La fiebre<\/strong><\/a> en ni\u00f1os es uno de los grandes temores de padres y madres. No es una enfermedad, es tan s\u00f3lo un s\u00edntoma, pero nos causa una enorme intranquilidad. Por eso hoy queremos desterrar algunos falsos mitos para que cuando a los m\u00e1s peques les suba la temperatura no entremos en p\u00e1nico.<\/p>\n

Hemos recogido ocho falsos mitos sobre la fiebre:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. La fiebre es mala<\/em>. La fiebre es un proceso natural del cuerpo mediante el cual reacciona ante cualquier infecci\u00f3n. Es una defensa del sistema inmunol\u00f3gico<\/strong>, con lo que no puede ser mala.<\/li>\n
  2. Debemos bajarla lo antes posible<\/em>. La recomendaci\u00f3n de los pediatras es no dar antit\u00e9rmicos si no se superan los 38\u00baC<\/strong>, a menos que el estado general del ni\u00f1o sea malo.<\/li>\n
  3. Para bajarla hay que\u00a0dar ba\u00f1os fr\u00edos<\/em>. La realidad es que no se recomiendan los ba\u00f1os<\/strong>, y menos fr\u00edos, pues pueden provocar un choque muy brusco con la temperatura corporal.<\/li>\n
  4. Si con la fiebre el ni\u00f1o tiene tiritona hay que taparle<\/em>. \u00a1Nunca! Debemos intentar destaparle, no abrigarle en exceso y mantenerle hidratado<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  5. Si aparece fiebre alta hay que acudir de inmediato a urgencias<\/em>. Esto s\u00f3lo se recomienda hacerlo si el beb\u00e9 es menor de tres meses o si hay otros s\u00edntomas de alarma como dificultad respiratoria, llanto incontrolable, mal color o el ni\u00f1o est\u00e1 muy deca\u00eddo.<\/li>\n
  6. Las convulsiones febriles pueden aparecer si esta es muy alta<\/em>. Las convulsiones s\u00f3lo se dan en algunos ni\u00f1os<\/strong> (menos de un 8%) y no son peligrosas ni graves. Suele haber cierta predisposici\u00f3n gen\u00e9tica. Hay que mantener la calma, cuidar que el ni\u00f1o no se golpee y acudir a tu pediatra.<\/li>\n
  7. La fiebre alta puede provocar meningitis<\/em>. Esta era una creencia muy extendida antiguamente aunque hoy en d\u00eda todav\u00eda persiste. M\u00e1s bien ocurre al contrario: la meningitis, una infecci\u00f3n del sistema nervioso, cursa con fiebre muy alta.<\/li>\n
  8. El \u00fanico term\u00f3metro fiable es el de mercurio<\/em>. Estos term\u00f3metros ya se han retirado del mercado, pero los term\u00f3metros de galio o bien digitales aseguran una correcta medici\u00f3n<\/strong>. Se debe medir en la axila y siempre tomarla dos veces para asegurar que se ha medido bien.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
